I'm Like Oprah

Okay, I'm a little like Oprah, I have to make myself exercise and right now, I'm not liking like I want to. Some days it feels good to go, to get on the treadmill, and head to the weight room. Other days, it feels like I have a ball and chain around my ankle and getting to the gym is a feat in itself. I'm not quitting, but I'm not seeing success like I want to either.

I hate gyms. With a passion. And I hate machines. My exercise has to feel purposeful in some way, otherwise, I can't stick with it. I mean, you run on the treadmill for hours and still don't get anywhere! :) Personally, I like to take walks, play sports, roller blade, bike ride, kayak,, things that require one to actually make progress. I really like classes too, I suppose for the social aspect -oh, and yard work. I worked for a greenhouse for a short while in high school and loved it.
So, maybe you could try switching up your exercise plan once in awhile, especially if you find you dread the gym sometimes. Get a partner to walk or run with you once a week, join an aerobics class another day each week. Just something to change things up so you don't get bored, and so that physical activity is a bit more bearable. Good luck!

Hi Penny, Happy St. Pats Day! You are so right. I live overlooking a canyon with lots of trails for hiking. When I mix things up, I like it better. It's when my schedule gets tight that I have to stick to what is available and timely. Thanks for chiming in, I love it!
