Jillian Says...

"Working out like the contestants do on The Biggest Loser is unrealistic. If you can exercise 4-5 hours a week, and eat sensibly, you will lose weight, get fit, and feel good."

It's tough to make that much time, but it just comes down to asking yourself, how important is this to me? Only you can find the motivation to get up, get out, and get moving.

Tip From Prevention Magazine

Forget the ugly-picture-on-the-refrigerator trick. It will just make you depressed. Use a picture of yourself at your thinnest - or a favorite celebrity whose shape you admire - to give you something real to work toward.

I like this advice as I would much rather go with the positive, encouraging approach than constantly reaffirming what I don't want to be, and what I'm trying delete from my minds eye.

Counting Points

I am counting points though I'm not officially joining Weight Watchers. I would if I were working and had the extra cash as I completely believe in their weekly meeting for accountability and support. I've been on the program and know how it works so I'm just applying what I know.

I'm starting day four of counting points and journaling my food. The bad news is that we leave today for Las Vegas and we're driving. I'm planning to pack some healthy, low point snacks, but I'm the only one really concerned with not eating "road trip" food. I just have to keep asking myself, do I really want to eat this or do I really want to wear my size 10 clothes? I'll let you know how I did when I get back next week. My weight today is 174 (that's down from 177!).

Where Have I Been?

You must be asking yourself. Well, that's presuming anyone is reading this.

In any case, this blog is suppose to be keeping me in the fitness and weight loss game. So, let me see if I can stay on track. I figure that the best way to stay plugged in is to post three times a week like I do with my other blogs, it keeps me accountable to have a schedule to keep. Tune in Monday for the start of regular, hopefully helpful posts!

It's Working

Well, we have been Wii'ing for the last few days and I'm killer sore! I'm down 2 lbs and I like the body testing feature. It''s especially nice to check your weight and BMI to graph your progress.

What are you doing that's working. Frankly, it's fun to share tips, but if your head's not in the game to get fit and lose weight, it just ain't gonna happen! I'm better than I was but still not steadfast committed!

A New Year - A New Approach

It's been said that 92% of people who make new year resolutions don't keep them. The thought is that they try to tackle too much all at once. I've had some success with resolutions but they usually don't come on January first. Oh, don't get me wrong, I resolve many things at the beginning of the year, too, it's just that the things I've been successful with haven't been for a new year.

This year I'm certainly starting new with the same commitment to get my weight in check and feel better. Heck, if Oprah, who has every advantage, can gain her weight back, well, that speaks for itself. Dave has been working out all through the holidays and he looks great. We got a new Wii system with the Wii Fit program and I have to say, I'm impressed. I'm going to use this tool and see where it takes me.

For today, I'm going to journal my food, be conscious of my choices, and exercise. Yesterday, I ate chips, dip, and See's candy. Sounds crazy, I know. My thought was that eating some of the leftovers took the "I can't have that" feeling out of the day, and frankly, it wasn't all that. Now that the diet has been blown, I have nothing to fail at and I feel really ready to eat better food, exercise more (again), and just get to the business of making this year better than the last one! Happy New Year!
